Tutoring a Younger Student Math

I tutored a younger student in math. It was such a wonderful experience that taught me a lot about patience and teaching. I was working with a fifth grader, that's why we focused on geometric figures, which allowed us to explore shapes and angles.

I wasn't sure at first how to explain things to her in a manner that would make sense, but as we moved on, I found ways of breaking this down into smaller pieces. I learned that patience was very important since sometimes she grasped a concept a little later than another concept, and it enjoyed seeing her light up when she grasped something.

After the lessons, I wrote down some small homework assignments to keep things fresh in her mind. It had been rewarding after some time to see her progress and to know that I was helping her build up some confidence in her math skills. This has helped her finally, but it also allowed me to work on my communication skills and make appropriate adjustments in my teaching style. It was quite fun to share my love for math with her, and her growing enthusiasm was great to see.
